Check the agency’s own page. Enterprise Ireland: Build Capability is the definitive version of this support. This page is our summary, and rates and eligibility change from time to time. Your Enterprise Ireland Development Adviser is the definitive source on what applies to your company.

What it funds

  • Non-routine, strategic training for management and staff.
  • Operations, process improvement and technology adoption: Lean and continuous improvement methods that embed an operational excellence mindset, systems and behaviours, and adoption of digital, AI and automation systems.
  • Three further areas: leadership and organisational development, market development, and product and service innovation.

Who it is for

  • Enterprise Ireland client companies investing in non-routine training that builds the capability and capacity to transform, adapt, innovate and compete internationally.
  • Companies that would previously have used LeanPlus. Enterprise Ireland has closed LeanPlus and says Build Capability should be used instead.

Support and costs

  • Grants from €5,000 to €70,000 per project.
  • The grant rate is a percentage of eligible project costs and depends on the size of your business.
  • Enterprise Ireland sets the amount approved by the impact on your business and the return to the State.

Grant rates, caps and eligibility are set by each agency and change from time to time. Your Enterprise Ireland Development Adviser or IDA Project Executive confirms what applies to you.

How we work with you on it

  2. Proposal. We prepare a proposal that fits the agency’s requirements, which you submit with your application.
  3. Delivery. We deliver it with your team on your own processes, and report measured results against the targets in the application.
