Practical programmes that improve how modern organisations execute, built with your people and designed to last after we leave.

Step one

Start with the diagnostic

Most performance problems are visible only from the inside, and only once someone looks at the work as it actually flows. Every engagement starts from the Business Execution Canvas® Diagnostic, which asks the people who do the work where the organisation stands on all 27 components of the Business Execution Canvas®, by team and by level.

  1. Run the diagnostic free with your first team on structuredcollaboration.com. It takes about 15 minutes and gives you a report.
  2. Extend it to more teams, or to one process end to end, with set-up support and a debrief from our team.
  3. Where the results show the need, the Expertivity team works with you to make the changes, using the programmes below.

Operational excellence for the modern organisation

Modern organisations are often the hardest to run well. Demand arrives by email, phone and workflow, much of the work is invisible, and complexity grows with every new product, system and regulation. Our programmes give managers and teams the information and routines to control their workload, improve their processes and sustain the gains. They typically raise productivity by 20–40%.

Pilot programme

10 to 12 weeks

Test the approach on a real problem in a team or function with capacity, cost or service pressure. It proves the value, shows what needs to change before scaling, and targets at least a 15% improvement. Typical results are 25% to 40%.

Lean operational excellence

3 to 6 months

A structured programme with executives, managers, team leaders and teams. It assesses capability in demand, capacity, cost, quality and customer service, then applies lean operations management tools, methods and training. Typical overall improvement is around 25%.

End-to-end process improvement

Scoped to the process

Treats your key processes as assets. We map them across organisational boundaries to show where value is created, lost and handed off, then redesign them with the people who run them.

Building lasting capability

For organisations ready to embed excellence across divisions, we support a three-phase journey.

  • Initiate: choose the methodology, build the capability framework and secure leadership commitment.
  • Accelerate: embed continuous improvement, refine measurement, and integrate excellence into target-setting.
  • Sustain: align improvement goals with KPIs, establish organisation-wide improvement structures, and value each improvement to guide what comes next.

The 25 steps

Each programme follows our 25-step operational excellence fundamentals. Teams build, review and sign off their own process and demand data. Daily routines and visual management are embedded, and ServiceForce, now CollabForce365 on structuredcollaboration.com, supports day-to-day operational discipline. Engaging teams. Embedding discipline. Sustaining excellence.

Across functions

Structured Collaboration

All value is created and delivered across functions: marketing to sales, sales to operations, operations to support. Yet the space between functions is usually the least defined and least managed part of the organisation. Structured Collaboration treats collaboration as a competence to be built, not a value to be encouraged.

  • Focus on value from the customer’s point of view
  • Align the organisation around shared priorities
  • Define cross-team workflows and who owns them
  • Speed up decisions and clarify accountability
  • Create visibility from senior management to the front line

Reducing complexity

Process ownership and management

Many organisations run improvement projects. Few put the governance in place to keep processes improving once the project ends. Without clear process owners and process managers, gains fade and complexity grows back.

  • Define and document the processes that matter most
  • Appoint process owners, accountable for overall performance and alignment with strategy
  • Appoint process managers, who run the process day to day
  • Set the measures and reviews that keep improvement going

Reducing complexity

Lean digital transformation

Automation applied to an efficient process magnifies the efficiency. Applied to an inefficient one, it magnifies the inefficiency. We help you fix the process before you digitise it.

  • Identify the pain points, processes, people and systems behind the need for change
  • Prioritise the improvements with the greatest impact and return
  • Build lean and digital capability in your teams
  • Develop leadership that sustains continuous improvement
  • Establish end-to-end process ownership so the results last

How the pieces fit

How the three areas build on each other

1. Teams in control

Teams that can see and manage their own demand and capacity free their managers from firefighting.

2. Structured Collaboration

Managers with time back can improve how teams and functions work together.

3. Process ownership

Good cross-functional collaboration is the platform for governing processes end to end, which stops complexity growing back.

In their words

What clients worried about, and what happened

We ask teams how they feel before a programme starts and after it ends. These are the most common concerns, with what team managers told us afterwards.

“We’re too busy to spare four or five hours a week.”

It was hard at the start, but about halfway through we started to get wins. It wasn’t theoretical; we were working on our own daily issues.

“Staff will be watched and timed.”

There was no time-and-motion monitoring. We were asked for our views on tasks, times and complexity, and our feedback was used.

“They’ll report on us behind our backs.”

Reports to the senior team were shared and reviewed with us first, and we attended the steering meetings.

“It’s just about cutting heads.”

Cost or headcount can only come out if the data shows it. Where a team needs more resources, the method shows that too, in a form the senior team accepts.

“The consultants will take the credit.”

We worked out the solutions together and my team implemented them. Once the consultants left, the results were ours to maintain, and we did.
